3 INGREDIENT RIBZ MARINADE
This recipe is for you sis - 3 ingredients (not counting the pepper, but that's just a seasoning & doesn't count right?!) and easy and quick. Serve these fabulous Ribz with creamy mash or lot's of rice or fries or kumara wedges...
Thaw your Ribz if frozen. This can be done in the fridge overnight or for a quick defrost, place on bench top for 30 - 40 minutes.
- 1 pack of Flipit BBQ Ribz, thawed. Skewer or use as is. We don’t mind. Your Ribz, your grillz, your rulz.
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup tomato sauce
- freshly ground pepper
In a small bowl, combine the oil, soy sauce and tomato sauce. Add the black pepper, if using. Mix well. Place the Flipit Ribz in a pan. Pour the marinade over the Ribz and allow them to sit for at least 15 minutes but we know you want lots of flavour, so go crazy and leave overnight in the fridge.
Choose your method of cooking 'cause our Ribz are versatile as sis:
Grill: heat to high and grill Ribz for 6-8 mins turning occasionally to baste. Ensure the Ribz are piping hot before serving.
Oven: Set oven to 375F (190°C) cook for 15-18 mins. Ensure the Ribz are piping hot before serving.
Stovetop: Heat non-stick skillet, griddle or fry pan on high heat and slap on the Ribz first, then drizzle with ¼ cup of the marinade. Flip after 2 minutes and cook other side. Allow the marinade to reduce or until preferred caramelisation/doneness is achieved. Should be done in 7-8 minutes. Or less. Depends on how impatient (or hungry) you are! Ensure the Ribz are piping hot before serving.
BBQ: slap them straight onto a bbq, make sure grill is hot and ready. Three minutes each side, basting with the remainder of the marinade. Cook until preferred caramelisation/doneness is achieved. Just don’t burn it. Remember… you’re not working in a coal mine, you’re cooking plant-based Ribz.
Simmer down the leftover marinade in a small stock pot and use it to glaze over the BBQ Ribz after cooking. Or drizzle on the rice. Warning: flavour bomb. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
1 Pack of 8 serves 4, if humans are super hungry. 2, if there are teenagers in the room (they are usually hungrier than the humans).
